The United Nations Conference on Sustainable development also known as Rio +12 highlighted the need for greater cooperation among international development stakeholders and recognized the role of language in fostering coordination. While various actors have started to appreciate the importance of language and multilingualism in their work around the world, there is still a need for greater cooperation in language policy. The COVID pandemic and its global economic, social implications require a much more interactive dialogue between experts and communities. This new context emphasizes the communication dimension of translation, raising new challenges for the translation industry, but also offering new opportunities.
